About the event
Why do babies need nature every single day?
Research consistently shows that access to nature is important in early childhood development. Due to a lack of research into babies and toddlers’ engagement with the outdoors, JO & Nicola's research is an important contribution to our understanding ont his topic.
The growing number of very young children in the UK and beyond who now spend time in formal day care suggest that it is important to know more about outdoor provision for under twos.
Their research was sponsored by the Froebel Trust and is inspired by Froebel's understanding that, ‘Life in and with nature, and with the clear, still objects of nature must be fostered at this time by the parents and members of the family as the chief point of reference of the whole child-life’ and seeks to explore its significance in contemporary practice.
